PE and Sport
As a school we follow the National Curriculum (NCPE). Physical Education is a statutory entitlement for all pupils. The school has achieved the Gold School Games award in 2022/23 which recognises our commitment to school sport at all levels.
Within the NCPE, swimming must be provided for all children so that they can meet the statutory requirements by the end of Key Stage 2. Swimming is a vital life skill and this is why pupils are taught to swim and about water safety at St John’s (CE) Primary School. Pupils participate in ‘swimming lessons’ each year in school Years 2 -5, at the Freedom Leisure Centre (Crowborough).
We also provide an extensive range of after school sports clubs for KS2 including: football, rugby, table tennis, netball, cheerleading, hockey, cricket and athletics.
We are delighted to be involved in competitive team sports and compete against local schools in many tournaments through the School Games programme.
