This week

  • The children enjoyed World Book Day-thanks for all the costumes! The photos are uploaded on Tapestry.
  • In phonics, we have looked at ch and sh and have been practising blending and segmenting with these trickier sounds. We have also continued to look at the new tricky words for Phase 3 and are focusing on he, she, me, we and be.
  • We have been doing some writing inspired by the “Runaway pancake” story, where all children have been encouraged to write independently listening to the sounds in words to work out the spellings.
  • In maths, we have been looking at two more and two less in numbers to 20 and learning the skill of counting on and counting back.

Milk scheme

All children in state funded schools are offered milk up until to the age of 5. We have been offering milk to all of Reception class, which was working fine, but now our order is dropping as more children are turning 5, we don’t have enough milk to go around all the children that would like it. As from next week 11th March, we will only be able to offer milk to those children who are still 4. If you would like your child to continue to have milk, please register and pay for it here:

https://www.coolmilk.com/

We will then be issued with a list of children that have paid, so we can distribute the milk fairly. It would also be useful if you could email me and let me know that you have paid, just in case the message doesn’t get through from the milk company in time. Thank you. There is no obligation to have milk and pay; the children will still have access to their water bottles after every playtime.

Notices

  • Thank you to Nathan’s Mum who shared a story with us this week. If this is something you would like to do, please let me know when you are available and we can arrange it.
Thanks for the offers of support with the library-we are thinking of a solution.
  • Don’t forget Science week next week. We do ask for a small contribution to cover the cost of the science show and there are still a number outstanding. You can tick the permission box online-you don’t need to fill in the paper slip.
  • Next week on Wednesday we will be using the field for some science exploration. Could children please have wellies, a coat and waterproof trousers, or a change of trousers.

Please do not hesitate to email me with any questions or queries: ag@stjohnsprimary.org
