Reception Newsletter 28.02.20

This week

We had a fun week with lots of pancake related activities. In phonics we have looked at the long “ee” sound and practised reading and writing tricky words from Phase 2 and 3 within sentences. In maths we have started looking at combining two groups and recording this as an addition calculation, and in PE, we had a mini pancake race with the tennis racquets, balls and beanbags!

Thank you for all the lovely things you shared from the children’s exciting half term break. We are working our way through them if your child says they haven’t shown their pictures yet! And thanks for all the support with the activities I suggested to do after parents evening. Your involvement and encouragement honestly makes all the difference to your child’s progress at school.

Notices

  • World Book Day Dress up day NEXT WEEK: FRIDAY 6th March. The children can come in dressed as a character from a book-please do not think you have to go to any expense to make or buy an elaborate costume. There are lots of easy and cheap ideas online that can give you some inspiration! Please remember that the children will still go out in the playground during the day, so they will still need their coats and suitable shoes for being outside (or a change of shoes).
  • Book Week whole school competition: You are challenged to decorate a potato as a book character! Please bring any entries into school on FRIDAY next week and they will be displayed in the corridor for all to see. They may even be a little prize from Mrs Main for the best one in each class!
  • Milk Reminder: Milk is provided for children who are four from the government. If your child has already turned 5 (or is due to this month) and would still like milk, please register and pay at: coolmilk.com and then email me to let me know, as the list from the milk company often takes a while to be updated.
  • Snack donations: If anyone feels able to donate to the snack fund again, it would be much appreciated, either with cash or by buying some snacks for the class. This means we can supplement the fruit we are given for morning snack. The fruit is offered again in the afternoons.

Please do not hesitate to email me with any questions or queries: ag@stjohnsprimary.org

Have a lovely weekend with your families,
