Reception Newsletter 26.06.20
This week
We have had a lovely arty week. On Monday we explored painting and colour mixing and on Tuesday we made some natural art on the field inspired by Andy Goldsworthy. On Wednesday we made beautiful owl collages and on Thursday we did a bug hunt! We looked at flowers on Friday and created some amazing pastel artworks.
It has been lovely to have a different type of week and explore our creative sides!
Next Week
We will return to our structure of phonics, maths and PE during the mornings and free play and individual reading during the afternoon. We will look at AIR and EAR in phonics and doubling and halving in maths.
Transition to Year One
I just wanted to reassure you that although we still do not have guidance from the government about what school will look like in September, we will be doing our best to ensure there is a smooth transition to Year One. We will still carry out our teacher transition meetings where we share information with the next teacher, about attainment, learning needs and any other issues arising. At this point in the year, we would be starting to do more formal “lessons” in the classroom, to transition from the play based curriculum, and the classroom set-up at the moment is perfect for this, so the children will already be used to having their own desk and staying on a particular task for a period of time. We believe that all of the children have the independence and resilience needed for a smooth transition and we do not have any concerns about them being ready but please contact me if you want any further information about this process.
