This week
We have enjoyed the story of Kit and Sam at the cinema in phonics, whilst practising our Level 3 sounds. In maths we have continued to think about doubling and in PE we continued with our football skills.
Trip
You should have received the Blackberry Farm letter by email sent from the office on Monday. You can pay and give permission on parentpay so you don’t necessarily need to print the letter out, but if you do need a paper copy as you wish to pay by cash or cheque and are unable to print it out, please let me know. There is a deadline of the end of June to return the payment and please let us know as soon as possible if you feel unable to contribute.
Reading certificates
Well done to the 19 children who have read at least 3 times a week this term. The certificates are now going to be presented in assembly so the children will receive them after half term. (If you are away this week, I will check the books when we return on the 6th June.)
Lost property
There are a pair of black PE shorts with a name of “Alfie Woods?” that were in another child’s bag if you find you are missing any. There was also a blue water bottle left after school today with no name. They are both in the classroom for after half term.
Notices
*It is lovely to share your child’s photos and learning from home on Tapestry. They do love standing up in front of the class and the other children absolutely love watching them. As there have been several bank holidays since the Easter holidays, we had a lot to show this term! Please continue to upload any interesting moments from your child’s life to share with us, but we may need to prioritise those children who haven’t shown anything since Easter when we share them next term. It is still useful to upload things, even if they don’t get shared on the big screen, as we still add them to the child’s leaning journey and flag certain learning areas for them which can add to their learning profile at the end of the year.
*We do not encourage children to bring toys or treasures into school in case they get lost or damaged. We are happy for children to show items if they fit in with our learning and if we have time on that particular day, but we don’t always have time for other things.
Transition
I will be out of school on two whole days at the start of next term and on occasions for various meetings and training courses over the following few weeks to support the transition of the new Reception class into school. Mrs Blakeley will teach the class with Mrs Young or Mrs Warrener on the full days, and at other times they will cover the class together. Children do start to ask questions and understand that they will be moving on at this time of year. We tend to keep it very “matter of fact” and explain that all things grow and change and that it is a normal part of life. They grew up from babies and moved from Mummies and Daddies to Nursery and then to school and it’s just the same. Over the next term, the children will free flow their play across the Year One and Reception classroom on at least one afternoon each week to familiarise themselves with the classroom and teaching team. As ever, please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you want any further information or support.
