This week

The children are settling well and are getting to know each other. We are building in longer listening times on the carpet so they will be ready for our phonics and maths sessions soon and they are managing the playground and lunchtime routines well.

Notices

Please ensure the children have a waterproof coat in school every day. We are limited to our outside time now that playtimes for the school are staggered so we may go out in the rain!

Due to the Covid guidelines, we have to have the classroom window and door open all the time. The heating is on, but please ensure your child is warm enough with a jumper or maybe layers underneath their school t-shirt if they feel the cold.

Next week

The children with siblings can continue to come in at their house group times. The rest of the class should be here by 9am now please rather than 9.15.

Children can stay all day from next week if you feel they are ready. We are happy for your children to stick with part time hours for longer if they have been feeling tired. This can be for some days during the week or every day-we are very flexible. We have found that it is much better to build up the hours the children do so that they remain happy and motivated about going to school rather than putting them in full time and then lessening it later on as they are not managing. Even if they are used to doing long days at Nursery, the larger group and the behaviour expectations at school can make children more tired, so don’t feel it is a backward step. Ultimately, it is your choice as parents, as children legally don’t have to be in school full time until the term after their fifth birthday. Just let me know by email if you want your child to do any part time hours.

If your child is stayng all day, collection will be with the house group times for siblings (older siblings will collect the Reception children from their classroom) and at just after 3.15 (after yellow house group) for those without siblings.
