This week
What a wonderful term of learning, the children should all be very proud of what they have achieved during Term 5. The reception team are delighted with all the children’s achievements, they are really getting ready for the transition process heading towards year 1.
In phonics this week we have been revising level 3 phonics and the children have written lovely sentences including specific sounds and tricky words. In maths we will be learning to copy 2D shapes as well as finding 2D shapes within 3D shapes.
The children have been doing some super work around the life cycle of a butterfly. We have been very creative, immersing ourselves in the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. The children have been retelling the story, drawing the story and junk-modelling amazing caterpillars and butterflies.
The children had great fun in their Boogie Bounce session, please find the pictures on Tapestry.
Week one term 6
In phonics the children will start to complete more independent sentence writing including all level 2 and 3 sounds as well as tricky words. In maths we will begin to learn about sharing and grouping.
In PE we hope to hold more sessions outside and on the school field. We will be doing small team games using bat and ball skills. We will also be learning the basic rules of sports day activities.
In science we will begin to explore floating and sinking and will be using our art skills to make boats for science experiments.
