This week
We have had a great week back at school! It was lovely to hear about all the things the children had done during the holidays and we are enjoying looking at the photos on Tapestry.
We have been straight back into our learning timetable. In phonics, we have been recapping Level 3 sounds and challenging the children by reading and writing words and sentences. In maths, we have looked at the words “more” and “fewer” within numbers to 10 and have been using number lines to 20. We have also been looking at repeating patterns.
We had our first PE lesson outside which was really good fun. We used balls to roll and push, and the children managed really well to listen to the instructions in a larger space. In music, we learned a new song “The Big Bear Funk” and will put the xylophone accompaniment to it this week.
We have enjoyed using a painting program in the computer suite and were pleased to read with our buddies again.
Next week
We will be recapping further patterns in Level 3 in phonics and learn the last two tricky words “all” and “are”. In maths, we are learning about number bonds and will go outside again in PE if the weather allows.
Reading
Thank you to all the parents who have been in to read to us, It has been wonderful to have such a variety of texts and people to read. There is still an opportunity to read to the class if you would like to-just email me and we can sort out a time.
Tapestry
This term, there may be less recorded on Tapestry as we begin to work in different ways to help the transition to Year One and begin to assess the children against the Early Learning goals. As always, please ask if there are any questions or queries about your child’s learning.
Summer trip
We will be visiting Blackberry Farm during the latter part of the Summer Term. A letter should be going out to parents within the next few weeks. Because of transport costs, this trip is likely to be around £22, so I am letting you know now so that you can make provision for this cost. Please let me know if this is likely to be difficult and the school can support you.
