This week
It has been lovely to see some sunshine and be back on the field! In phonics this week, we have been recapping Level 3 sounds in words and sentences and in maths we have been thinking about doubling up to 5+5.
We played lots of percussion instruments in music and thought about the different ways we could play and the different sounds we could make. In PE we started looking at how to move the balls using our feet and on Thursday a group of children had a lovely game of football during our bikes session.
Thanks to Amelia’s Mum and Gethin’s Mum who have read to us this week and to all the parents who have read over the last few months. It has been great to share so many new stories with you. I think we will finish parent reading after the half term holiday as next term gets so busy during the afternoons, so next week is the last chance if you are still free and willing!
Next week
We will finish up on Level 3 phonics and continue with number work in maths. We hope to spend some more time out on the field if the weather allows.
New parents’ evening
On Tuesday 4th July we will be holding our welcome evening for new parents. ( I know-we can’t believe the time has come around so quickly either!) It is always lovely to have a few parents of our current reception class there to answer questions and just be around to chat, so the new parents can see and feel that it’s not that scary when your child starts school! if you feel you are able to help us out, please let me know by email. You won’t have to do any big speeches!-just be around for the question and answer sessions, give a parent point of view on certain things during the presentation and be around at the start and end to chat.

Sorry to be grumpy(!) but some of the children are coming to school with rather a lot of keyrings on their book bags. It is becoming quite difficult to get the bags in the trays and to put things in and out as the key rings are getting stuck on the edges of the trays. The new book bags are a lot larger than previous ones, so it does impact on children being able to put their things away easily. I feel terrible asking, as I know some even have home made key rings on their bags, but could we please limit the keyrings to one on a bag? I appreciate it can be helpful in order for the children to identify their bag easily. Thanks for your support in this.
