This week

We have been thinking about polar animals and watched some lovely clips of polar bears playing in the snow with their families just like us! We have also been looking at where we live thinking about different types of homes as well as thinking about what is in our local area, this learning will contribute towards map drawing.

In phonics we have been learning the sounds y, v, z, zz and qu.

In maths, we have been learning about one more and one less and sang lots of songs to help us understand counting forwards and backwards as well as learning to split five into two different groups in order to see we can make the ‘whole’ five from these two numbers.

We have started gymnastics session practising high and low movements and how we can travel across equipment. The children have enjoyed drumming to the rhythm of an African lullaby in our music session this week.

Next week

We will learn the story of the Chinese New Year and incorporate this into lots of our learning activities including map drawing. In phonics, we will cover the letter patterns ch, sh, th and ng and in maths, we will be learning all about mass and capacity.
