This week

We have covered the sound patterns “ar” “or” and “ur” in phonics and tricky word “you”. In maths, we have been practising adding two numbers together and recording it with an addition sign. We enjoyed the snow on the field and were very busy on our bikes! Thanks to Jak’s Mummy who came in to read to us on Tuesday.

Bikeability

We loved the Bikeability course, despite the weather! The children managed brilliantly in the freezing cold and pouring rain!! The instructors were very impressed with the children’s concentration and progression of skills. They asked if I could write a couple of things to parents in how to move on from the course, that may be helpful if you are teaching your child to ride a bike at home:
* If children are riding with stabilisers on their bike, they now have the skills to take them off! They have practiced balance, gliding without their feet on the ground and using the brakes.
* If you are supporting your child to learn to ride a pedal bike, the best way is to hold the back of their coat rather than any part of the bike or the handlebars. The child then has full control of the bike and how it feels, but you still have full control of the child if you need to steer or catch them!
If your child is riding a bike of any type, we would love to see a video on Tapestry to add to their learning journal and show how the in-school learning has impacted their progress out of school.

Next week

We will cover “ow” and “oi” in phonics and continue with addition in maths.
Friday is Comic Relief day so the children can dress in their own clothes with something red.

Many thanks for your support as always,
