This week
We had a great trip to Pizza Express on Thursday. All the children listened to the instructions so well at the restaurant and enjoyed getting their hands messy! The first time in the school minibus was also a great success. It was lovely to share the picnic lunch together when we returned to school. Thanks to Mrs Tierney and Mrs Sherlock who came along to help and carried all our pizzas back to school in the car!
The children have had some good discussions this week about internet safety and have learned to tell an adult if they come up against something they are not sure about, or something that concerns them online. The story we used was Smartie the penguin which you can read here if you wanted to discuss any of the ideas with your children:
We have had fun on the field today and the children are definitely ready for a nice rest next week!
Next term
We will think about healthy choices in food and lifestyle (our pizza trip was a good start to this) for our main topic and will continue with Level 3 phonics and our maths scheme. We have the bikeabilty course at the beginning of March and will do lots of actvities to do with springtime when it arrives.

I have had one person volunteer to read to the class next term, so I am repeating the message here from the newsletter a couple of weeks ago in the hope that some more brave people will come forward. Thank you!
Next term (starting Feb 20th)
We would love to invite parents/grandparents in to read a story to the class. This has worked really well in previous years at the end of the day, around 2.50pm. It can be a story of choice from home, or we can choose a story at school. If you would like to take up this opportunity, please email me with some dates you are available and we can invite you in. If you would like to read, but 2.50 is not ideal, we can accommodate other times and also can accommodate reading to a smaller group if you don’t fancy the whole class! It is really good for the children to hear different models of reading aloud and to discover new books, so please come in if you can! The children feel very proud when they see their Mums and Dads in school.
