This week

We have practised the letters d, o and g and have been improving at blending the letters together in words. You might like to play the pirate game at home over the weekend:

In maths, we have been looking at comparing non-identical sets using the language of more, most, fewer, fewest and “the same”.  We did PE in the hall on Wednesday, and everyone managed well with getting changed for the first time.  The children have been thinking about our new topic of light, dark and colour, and we have read lots of stories about darkness and light.  All the children drew a picture of something they could think of that gave light, and we talked about Guy Fawkes and fireworks on Tuesday.

Tapestry

Thank you so much for all the lovely pictures you put on Tapestry over the half term.  All of the children have had an opportunity to show the class and talk about what they did, which is great for their communication and language skills.

Next week

We will be looking at the letters c, k, ck  and e and practising blending and segmenting words.  In maths, we will still be using the language or more, most, fewer, fewest and “the same” and will look at ordering more than one number.

REMINDERS

  • There were 6 children this week without a PE kit. Could you please ensure they have these in school on Wednesdays please? If your child is wearing tights, they will need a spare pair of socks for PE. Thank you.
  • Could you please ensure that everything that your child has at school is named where possible? This includes: PE bag, PE kit, all shoes, gloves, hats, school bag, water bottle and all school uniform, especially fleeces and jumpers which they are likely to remove. It is so much easier to work out who things belong to when they have names in! Please share your way of naming with your child too, so they know what to look for in their clothes and shoes. We clear the classroom of any items at the end of the day before the children leave and anything unnamed goes up to the brown Lost Property box outside the main school office. Thanks for your support in this.
  • The Stay and Play sessions have been postponed until February. Please see the notice on Tapestry and the email sent from the school office.
  • It is Onesie Day next Friday 15th. The children often get really hot in a onesie, so we will help them change into their PE kit if they do-they don’t need a change of clothes. Please can children still wear their school shoes.
  • The Nativity performance at the Horder Centre, due to take place on Thursday 12th December, has had to be cancelled this year due to the forced school closure for the general election.
