This week
We have had such a lovely week this week at school, The children have responded so well to all the coronation activities and we have had so much fun! As well as our normal phonics and maths in the morning, we have done a variety of activities each afternoon.
On Tuesday we created music for a King’s procession using tuned and un-tuned percussion, and paraded past as the music played, choosing to be a soldier, servant, king or queen.
On Wednesday we learned all about the coronation chair and the KIng Edwards’s crown, and coloured and decorated our own crowns.
On Thursday, we collected beautiful natural objects from the field and made “Wild crowns” to celebrate King Charles’s love of nature.
And today, it was “the best day ever” according to some of the children! We talked about the union flag and how the different parts and colours fit together. We then decorated biscuits using red, white and blue icing. In the afternoon, we played party games in the classroom, ate our biscuits at snack time, and then the special surprise was a bouncy castle and an ice lolly kindly provided by the PTA! The children then all received a pin badge as a commemoration gift. I am sorry there are no photos of today as we were so involved with having fun with the class!
It truly has been a pleasure sharing these things with your children. They are always so grateful and excited for even the smallest things and are so kind to each other as a class. We often wish you could see them at school as you would certainly be proud. On weeks like this, we see such joy, and have so much fun-we feel very privileged to do this job.
Next week
We might return to some sort of normality!
