What a fun end of year! We had Sports Day, then we watched the Year 6 play, which was hilarious and so well performed. The PTA disco was awesome and we had a lot of fun playing with our favourite toys and our friends on the last day. It was sad to say goodbye to our amazing buddies, but their final assembly was beautiful with a lovely section involving our Reception children.

Thank you so much from me, Mrs Warrener, Mrs Young and Mrs Blakeley for your overwhelming generosity with our end of year gifts and your thoughtfulness in organising everything behind the scenes. The video was magical and it was lovely to see the huge card with the class photo on! We always say we don’t deserve these gifts as we are only doing the job we are already paid for and it is honestly a pleasure to spend every day in a Reception classroom. We are overwhelmed by your love and kindness towards us. It is so kind of you all to contribute when things are stretched for everyone and we really, truly appreciate it. Thank you very much.

Just a few notices before the holidays…

Please download your child’s learning journey from Tapestry as soon as possible so I can start to add the new children for next year. You should get an email telling you of the download, or you can look in Tapestry for “downloads”. Please email me if you cannot access it.

I am always a real advocate of children resting and recharging during holidays rather than working, but if you feel your child would benefit from keeping some of their learning going over the long Summer, don’t forget there are the two learning apps-Teach your monster and Numbots that the children can do. (Let me know if you need login details.) Both these apps are free. There is also a Rhino Readers app that you can download from any Play store which has the reading books that match our Twinkl phonics scheme. There is a monthly charge of £2.99 for this one I’m afraid. Your child should be reading anywhere from Level 2 to 4 depending on their progress during the year. This is not an interactive app that children can play on, it is just the reading books to be read alongside an adult. Please do not move onto any Level 5 books as there are lots of patterns in these books that will not have been taught and this will really confuse the children if they try and read these before being taught the Level 5 patterns in Year One. Thanks.
Please contact me if you need any further support or ideas.

It just remains for me to say thank you to you all for your support over the year. It makes such a difference to children if their Reception year can be a partnership between home and school and I feel that you have been a fantastic group of parents this year! The children are amazing and they have really gelled as a class. I know they will do well as they move to Year One and I look forward to seeing what they get up to as they move through school.

Have a wonderful Summer break,

Mrs Greening
