This week
Science week has been brilliant! Some of the things we have done are:
- Boat making; exploring sinking and floating and using our problem solving skills
- Springtime muddy walk on the field
- Egg drop challenge with Year 6 and then on our own!
- Science show and workshop
- Looking at the eggs and holding baby chicks
- Transport junk modelling trying to copy photographs carefully
- Transport colouring and writing activities
- Big road and track making in groups on huge pieces of paper
And lots more … please look at Tapestry for photos – I will try to upload them as soon as I can.
We have continued to do phonics and maths alongside science, so this week we have looked at “th” and “ng” and have been exploring copying and creating repeated patterns in maths.
Ways to support your child’s learning this week:
- Look through some of the photos of science week together and have a chat about what they learnt and enjoyed.
- Please continue reading with your child at least three times a week.
- Don’t forget the science poster challenge.

Next week
I am out of school on Monday at a conference in Brighton exploring creativity in the Early Years, which I hope is going to be really useful and inspiring. Mrs Cooper will teach the class in the morning and Mrs Young will be there in the afternoon.
