This week
We have enjoyed being back at school together and seeing our friends again. We hope you all had a good half term break.
In phonics we have learnt the letters ck, e and u and in maths we have been thinking about the numbers 1,2 3-how they look and how they are made up. We read with our buddies on Wednesday, are learning about jumping in PE and loved using the parachute on Thursday. The children had a lovely PSHE session about sharing with Mrs Blakeley.
Next week
We will cover r, b and h in phonics and be looking at numbers 1-5 in maths. We will be thinking about Firework Night and Remembrance Day in some of our craft activities.
Reading
Please continue to look over the phonics cards in your child’s bag with them. We are now blending in our phonics lessons in the mornings, so you can put small 2 or 3 letter words together to make words that your child can read. At this stage, they do not have to make words from what you say (segmenting). Once the children are blending, we can start them on our reading books.
Nativity
The children will take part in the Nativity play with Year One and Two this December. This year Reception will be snowflakes. Please could you start thinking about finding a black T-shirt and black leggings/trousers for your child to wear. These will need to be brought in to school during the week beginning 27th November, clearly labelled and in a named carrier bag please. They will then stay in school until after the performances on the 6th December. The children will have a large snowflake pinned to the T-shirt, so please don’t send any best clothes! Any problems, let me know.
Thanks for your support as always,
Alice Greening
