This week

We have looked at letters g o c and k in phonics and have been thinking about comparing length, height, mass and capacity in maths. We have been finishing pictures of our families and practising writing letters on the whiteboards.
We are now joining in assemblies with the rest of the school and are really well adjusted to school life.
We made it to the end of Term 1! Thanks for all your support to enable the children to settle so well.

Next term

We will think about festivals and celebrations, including DIvali and of course Christmas. The children will be involved in the KS1 nativity play and will continue with maths and phonics every day. Most children will start to bring reading books home and and we will start to build up the learning activities in the afternoons. We will start to get changed for our PE sessions and will use the apparatus for gymnastics.

Notices

Thanks for your time at parents evenings this week. Please return the home school agreeements as soon as possible, once you have taken the time to read them, and complete the online acceptable use policy if you haven’t done already.
Don’t forget that there are lots of resources on the Reception pages of the school website, including the slides of my presentation about supporting your child at home and phonics mats that show the actions we use for the sounds we learn if you are unsure.

We have sent the PE bags home today as we have to clear the cloakrooms during holidays. Half term is a great opportunity for the children to practise getting changed into their PE kit. It is also really useful if children know how to get their clothes the right way round if they are inside out, as they often are once they have taken them off. We talk about putting your hand in, snapping the fabric like a crocodile and pulling back out. We do support children with getting changed, but always ask them to try first themselves!

Due to timetable changes in the school, our library time will now be on a TUESDAY and our music slot will change to a MONDAY from next term. PE will be on WEDNESDAYS.

I hope you have a wonderful week with your children,
See you back at school on Tuesday 31st October.
