This week
The children feel really settled and lovely friendships are being made. This week there have been some changes in routine, as the children now come in and do an adult-led “job” before they can choose their play. They have coped brilliantly with this structure and all the activities are designed to improve their fine motor skills in preparation for writing.
We are doing daily phonics lessons and will start looking at letter patterns next week, as well as starting whole class maths sessions.
It was a lot of fun to do a small PE session this week, (without getting changed!). We learnt about how to use the space in the hall by exploring different ways to move our bodies.
On Tuesday afternoon we went to the music room to explore the instruments and do some dance activities.
Next week
We will visit the library on Monday afternoon and the children will bring a book home to share with you. This should be returned every Monday in order to change the books. (Children will not be able to take another book home without the previous one being returned.) You do not need to record this reading anywhere, just enjoy the time reading with your child with a book that they have chosen.
As you know, Mrs Young will be in the school office from next week, so her afternoons will now be covered by Mrs Warrener or Mrs Sadler, both of whom the children know very well.
We hope to also start reading with our buddies on a Wednesday afternoon and start going to some assemblies!

Thank you for attending the parents meeting on Wednesday evening. We did discuss internet safety as part of this session , so if you were unable to attend, an internet safety leaflet has been sent home in your child’s book bag.

Star of the Day
Well done to Marvin who is our first “Star of the Day.” He will wear the badge on Monday and get some privileges, such as going to lunch first! Children are chosen for doing things that are special to them and each child will get a turn over the course of the year.
Harvest
We will be going to church on Wednesday as part of Harvest festival celebrations. The children will sit with their Y6 buddies and join in part of the service by singing a song. Please send in any contributions for the foodbank with your child in the morning if you are able to donate.
