This week

We have continued with Level 4 phonics. It was great today as most of the children generated their own sentence from a story on the board and wrote it independently. There was lots of evidence that they understood “finger spaces” between words and they were able to read their sentences back.
In maths, we have been looking at grouping, for example, putting 10 into groups of 2, or 12 into groups of 4. We have been talking about how many groups there are and how many in each group. We have worked out that sometimes we can’t share into groups and there are some left over.
In music this week, we danced to “The Sugar Plum Fairy” and we recapped lots of the songs we learnt over the year.
At the computers, we are all independent at logging in and getting on the internet now and we had a choice of game to play.
In PE, we have been continuing with team games and seeing how the children organise themselves. This week we added in a timekeeper who was in control of when to start and stop the game.

Next week

We will welcome in some of the new Reception children on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon, so this class will spend some time in Year One and Two. This has worked well in previous years.
We will continue with phonics and maths in the mornings and creative activities in the afternoons.

Notices

Please pay for the Blackberry Farm trip if you haven’t done so already by the end of next week-the 30th June. Let me know if you are having any difficulties as soon as possible.

Have a lovely weekend and I hope to see you at the Sumer Fair!
