This week
We have had a fabulous World Book Day today! Thanks for all your amazing costumes and for the books too-it really helps the children when talking about who they are dressed as. We have looked at a wonderful book today called “Flotsam” by David Wiesner which the whole school have been looking at today. In the book, a boy finds a camera washed ashore and there are the most amazing pictures inside! The children had a chance to think about what photo they think they would take underwater and explore a wealth of imagination! In phonics this week, we have covered the “oo” pattern making a long (moon) and a short sound (book) and in maths we have explored numbers 6,7,and 8. In music, we played the instruments along to Incy wincy Spider and in PE we were exploring different ways to move on the apparatus and around the hall-forwards, backwards and sideways.
We have been thinking about fruit this week and have had some fruit to explore for our sensory play, and some children designed a healthy lunchbox as part of a drawing activity this week.
Next week
The children will take part in the Bikeability sessions in groups each morning. They may come to school in leggings/tracksuit trousers etc along with their school tops and jumpers/cardigans. They will need to wrap up warm looking at the weather forecast and gloves may be advisable. I’m sure they will soon warm up once they get racing around! Last year, we did the bike sessions in May and we found that for some of the children, it was not enough of a challenge at that time of year, so we brought it forward to the spring time this year, but I didn’t think we might be doing it through the snow!
