This week

In phonics we have learnt new patterns: ai, ee, igh and oa. We have covered tricky word “was” and have been practising writing words and reading sentences together.
We have been enjoying our new climbing frame in the outside area and had a brilliant PE session using the parachute to play games on Thursday.

Next week

We will look at both sounds for the oo pattern in phonics (as in book and moon) and continue to practise tricky words.
We will be exploring numbers 6,7 and 8 in maths and will be continuing with gymnastics in PE. The children will have their height, weight and sight tests from the school nurse team on Tuesday.

Notices

World Book Day

We will be celebrating World Book Day next Friday and the children are welcome to come dressed as a book character. It is really helpful if they can bring the book in as well so they can talk about who they are dressed as. Please don’t go to any expense or trouble to find an outfit. We have loads of dressing up outfits at school, so please let me know if your child would like to borrow something for the day.

We will be welcoming in some parents to read to the class next week. Thanks to those that have offered. Please let me know if you would like to come in and when suits you.

Bikeability

Thanks to those who have paid and filled in the forms. Please return any outstanding forms by next Wednesday 1st March. If you are having any difficulty making the payment, please fill in the paper form anyway and let me know by sending an email, as we would love all the children to attend.
The sessions may run across 4 mornings, depending on how the trainers organise it. Children should wear a school blue polo shirt and comfortable trousers/leggings and trainers from Monday to Thursday that week please instead of standard school uniform, unless you hear otherwise.

Thanks very much for your support in reading and coming to parents’ evenings this week,

Have a lovely weekend with your families,

Alice Greening
