This week

We have looked at the “ch” “sh” and “th” patterns in phonics and encountered new tricky words: he, she, we, me and be.
In maths we have been looking at how the number 5 is made up by playing a fun bean bag game and we enjoyed some fun activities about sharing in our PSHE session.
In computing, we continue to practise logging on and using the mouse to click and drag and in PE we had the gym equipment out and were exploring high and low movements and balances.

Next week

We will be thinking about internet safety a little every day. It is really important to start these discussions early with children, as Mrs Herniman has written in her email home today. We will look at a story of a penguin given a new tablet and what happens when he encounters problems. The story is designed to explain that children should always tell an adult if they are unsure of anything online.

Bird watch

We will do our bird watch next Friday 10th February so please bring in wellies and waterproof trousers or a change of clothes.

Pizza Express

We are very excited about our trip to Pizza Express next Thursday. We will leave at 9am so please ensoure children are at school at 8.40 on that day if possible. We will return to eat our pizza at lunchtime. You do not need to order a school lunch for your child that day. If your child does not like pizza, please let me know and they can bring in a packed lunch.

Parent’s evening

An email has gone home today about parents evenings in the week after half term. It will be great to meet with you to discuss your child’s progress. Please have a think between now and then if there is anything you would particulary like to discuss or ask so we can use the limited amount of time effectively.

Thanks for all your support as always, especially with reading. The children suddenly seem to have taken off! It’s lovely to see. Thank you.
