Reception Newsletter 04.07.20
This week
We have looked at AIR and EAR in phonics and have read and written words and sentences with these sounds in. The children have continued to work on their tricky words and we have completed some phonics assessments so we know the children’s exact starting points for next year.
In maths, we have learnt about doubling and enjoyed exploring capacity by using different shaped water containers.
Next Week
We will look at the last phonic sound in Phase 3-URE and explore sharing amounts in maths.
Tapestry Downloads
Thank you for all your uploads onto Tapestry during the year. It has been invaluable for adding to the picture of the children’s learning, and it was an amazing resource to have during the school closure period. It really helped me feel I was keeping in touch with the children. We will not add any more new observations of the children from next FRIDAY 10th July, so if you have anything you wish to add to your child’s record of their Reception year, please do it by then.
From the 13th July, I will download the children’s journals as PDF files and then they will be available for you to download to keep digitally at home. You will receive a notification when this is available and the link will last for 3 weeks. Please let me know before the end of July if you have any problems with this, as we will begin to transfer the new children onto the system from the start of August. (They are very big files!)
**If there are any photos or videos you want to keep from the “Class news Reception” account rather than your own child’s, please right click on these and download them individually as this journal will not be available as a whole for download.**
Notices
- You will still receive a written report this year about your child’s progress, covering the period from September until March. This will be emailed to you during the final week of term. If there is anything in the report that you wish to comment on or discuss, this can be done via email rather than by a face to face meeting as in previous years.
- We are planning to mark the end of the year in some way in the last week of term with the Y6 buddies. Although we can’t mix the bubbles, we are thinking of having lunch together on the field in our separate groups, so the children can say a thank you and a goodbye to their friends.
- Remember it is an INSET day on Monday 13th The school is closed to most children so we can welcome our new intake families for a “socially distanced” visit, as they have been unable to participate in any of our normal transition activities this year.
