Reception Newsletter 12.06.20
This week
In phonics we looked at the OW sound and practised using all the sounds we know to sound out words carefully. Some children are starting to write sentences now, so we have been supporting them with this and encouraging use of capital letters and full stops.
We have been learning about subtraction in maths, using objects and number lines and enjoyed measuring our feet and comparing lengths.
It has been great to do the sports day challenges each day. We even had some live demonstrations from Mr Pollard of how to do each activity! I think the final scores will be uploaded on the website next week.
In the afternoons, we having been thinking about British wildlife and especially minibeasts.
Next Week
We will continue with new learning in phonics and maths. We will look at the oi sound (sorry I got it wrong on here last week!) and in maths we will look at the place value of numbers from 10-20.
Notices
- We have heard the children read and they will keep books in their trays. We have also assessed where they are with their tricky words. Please see the individual observation for your child on Tapestry to see what you can support them with at home. We have shown which tricky words they need to focus on and have taken a picture of the book they are reading at school so you can see which level of book to find if you are buying books for home or sourcing them online.
