Reception Newsletter 13.03.20

This week

The children have had a great day today in their Sports Clothes. Thanks for your support and donations.

We have been enjoying the science week activities across the school and will continue with these on Monday and Friday afternoon next week.

Sorry we didn’t make it to the library this week-we had two afternoons of science activities and I was out on a course with Mrs Cooper on Wednesday afternoon and had a meeting with a governor about EYFS on Tuesday afternoon. It has been a bit muddled! We will go and change books on Wednesday this week.

This week in phonics, we have looked at the long igh sound in spelling and reading and in maths; we have looked at the different ways to make 10 using practical apparatus such as Numicon.

Next Week

We look forward to welcoming you into the classroom on Wed, Thu or Fri morning for about an hour. Please sign up on the whiteboard outside the gate next week if you haven’t already and you wish to attend a Stay and Play session.

  • Milk Reminder: Milk is provided for children who are four from the government. If your child has already turned 5 (or is due to this month) and would still like milk, please register and pay at: coolmilk.com and then email me to let me know, as the list from the milk company often takes a while to be updated.

Coronavirus

I just wanted to let you know that we have not specifically talked to the children about this in our Reception class. At the age the children are at, I feel it should be up to parents to decide how they want to talk about this with their child, as different child will be affected by these things in different ways and you know your children best. However, rest assured if they ask questions or it comes up in something they have heard from the older children, we will deal with it in a sensitive and age appropriate way. We always encourage good hygiene habits, such as washing hands before food or after using the toilet, and encourage sneezing or coughing into tissues, so we will continue as we always do. There are some really good resources on the BBC website platforms about how to talk to your child about this, if you want any support.
