Reception Newsletter 13.09.2019
This week
The children have settled in really well. They have been managing the new routines and have been enjoying spending time with their buddies in the playground and field. Thank you for ensuring that they have arrived on time and for supporting them with all the new things they have to do in the classroom.
I have activated everyone’s Tapestry account and you should have received an email your end to complete the activation. There are still 7 parents who haven’t activated their accounts, so please check your spam/junk folder and let me know if there are any problems. Across the year, please add to the observations or add your own ones about what the children have been up to. It helps to complete a whole picture of your child’s development this year.
Thank you for all the pictures of your families and your holiday photos. The children have enjoyed sharing them with their friends and they are all displayed on our classroom values board which celebrates “Love.”
Keeping in touch
Most school information will be emailed out to you, or you can find it on the school website. Please check emails regularly, especially the weekly notices sent out on a Friday. The Reception newsletter is published on the website on the class page and also on Tapestry each week.
Snacks
The children receive free fruit and milk (4 year olds) from the government every day, but I am aware that this may not always be enough for them when they are so young and active. This week, I have padded this out with some breadsticks and rice cakes and I am hoping to continue to do this. If you feel able (please do not feel obliged) I would appreciate a donation to cover this and also the cooking ingredients as we move further into the term. Perhaps £5 per family per long term or whatever you feel able to give. I will put a box in the classroom near the children’s pebbles or you may like to donate a box or bag of snack directly.
Photo
We will be taking a class photo to go on the school website and in the local newspapers on Monday, if you would prefer that your child is not included for any reason, please email me or let me or Mrs Warrener know on Monday morning.
School hours
Please let me know sometime next week, which hours your child is intending to do from the week beginning 23rd September. Next week pick up continues at 1.15.
Parents evening
We have decided not to hold a “Meet the teacher” for Reception class, as the other classes do, as we have had lots of transition meetings and feel we have had a chance to get to know you already. We will be holding a “How to support your child with the learning” evening instead at the start of October. Please see the list of term dates sent out by Mrs Cooper.
Next week
If you feel that your child is ready to leave you at the classroom gate next week, please encourage them to do so. We would aim to have all children coming in by themselves by the end of next week.
Thank you for your support.
Please do not hesitate to email me with any questions or queries: ag@stjohnsprimary.org, however large or small!
Regards,
Alice Greening
