Reception Newsletter 24.05.19
This week
We have been looking at counting back/taking away, using a number line and track and counting jumps.
In phonics, we have learned “ar” (the pirate sound) and been practising writing words and sentences.
We read with Year 4 this week, as Year 6 are away, and have been enjoying lot of activities in the classroom based around minibeasts.
Ways to support your child’s learning this week:
Please continue to support with reading-thank you. Don’t forget the tricky word bookmarks alongside any books your child is reading. Thank you. We have given the children extra books to last over the break.
Please go over the Phase 3 phonics and tricky words attached on last week’s newsletter on the website between now and the end of half term. Most children should now know all the Phase 3 tricky words and most of the phonic patterns, but they may need to practise a few times a week to consolidate what we have been learning at school.
Notices
• Sun cream and sun hats: Your child is encouraged to have a sun hat at school during the Summer months. Please ensure it is clearly named. Sun cream should be applied before school. If you wish to send in extra with your child, please ensure they can apply it safely themselves and that it is also clearly named.
• I will be out of the classroom on several occasions during the next term, as we start transition arrangements for next year’s Reception class. The class will be covered by a supply teacher called Mrs Playford on each occasion, so there is continuity for the children, and Mrs Young or Mrs Warrener will be present too. I am always contactable by email even if I am not in school that day.
