Dear parents:

The children enjoyed their trip to the Ashdown Forest. We used mirrors to look at the tops of trees, met Winnie the Pooh characters, built dens for Eeyore and explored features of the forest.

English:
  • Introduced Our New Book: We dived into our wonderful new class text, “Lost and Found” by Oliver Jeffers.
  • Made Predictions: The children used their detective skills to guess what might happen next to the boy and the penguin.
  • Captioned Pictures: We practiced our handwriting and sentence-building by writing short descriptions for key scenes in the story.
  • Explored Character Feelings: The children discussed and wrote about how the characters felt at different parts of their emotional journey.

Maths:

  • Ordering Numbers: We are learning how to arrange a jumbled set of numbers up to 10 in order, practicing both from smallest to greatest and greatest to smallest.
  • Comparing Symbols: The children are being introduced to the greater than (>), less than (<), and equal to (=) math symbols to compare different amounts.
  • Crocodile Comparison: To help us remember, we are imagining the symbols as a hungry crocodile who always wants to open its mouth and eat the biggest number!
  • End of Unit Assessment

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Costall
