This week our role play area became a pizza restaurant in anticipation of our exciting trip next week! We have started talking about how to make a pizza and what to expect when we visit next week and are really looking forward to it.
In phonics we learnt two new sounds, our first trigraph (three letters, one sound) ‘igh’ (‘sight’, might’, light’) and the digraph ‘oa’ (boat, coat, toad). We have been reading and writing words with these sounds in. The flashcards for these new sounds have been sent home today. We also learnt a new tricky word ‘my’. In maths we have been looking at the composition of 6, 7 and 8, noticing how larger numbers are made up of smaller ones, we have been using concrete manipulatives to partition the numbers and playing games that enable us to see the smaller parts within a number.
In p.e. we compiled a dance sequence, moving our bodies to represent different forms of transport. In music we used chime bars to play and sing along to the music. In R.E. we learnt the story of David and Goliath and considered what the story teaches Christians about being brave and what strength can look like.
Reminder: Please remember to label all your child’s clothes, including their p.e. kit, with their name.
Thank you for your support, have a wonderful weekend,
Jo Bentley
