Today the children are bringing home their beanstalks. Please do continue to water them and take care of them at home, once they are a bit bigger you could transfer them to the ground if you have a garden. It would be great if you could continue to observe the growth and share photographs using tapestry. The children really enjoyed sharing baby photographs this week, we compared how they looked then to how they look now and talked about what they can do now that they couldn’t do then. We also thought a bit about how much they have grown whilst in reception class and how much they have learnt so far at school.

In phonics we have learnt some more tricky words, have, come, some and like and we have continued to practise blending and segmenting words with adjacent consonants. I have sent home an activity worksheet today, should you wish to practise reading and writing some of these words with your child. We have been adding and taking away in maths, as well further exploring the properties of shapes and spatial relations. We have been rotating shapes so that we can visualise how shapes and objects will fit together.

P.E. was on the field again, we had great fun dribbling the ball, this time dodging defenders! We learnt how to keep the ball close while we travel, without losing our ball to the opposing team. We finished our music unit on big feelings with a whole class composition. We used a selection of instruments to create the sounds of the sea, the breeze, the shells and the sand and created and performed our own class calm soundscape. The children did brilliantly.
