What superstars your children have been this week! I am sure you will agree that they were wonderful twinkling stars in our nativity performance, I was so proud of them all and am sure you were too. Thank you for coming to watch, we hope you enjoyed it.

As well as performing our nativity 3 times this week, we have had a wonderful Christmas party with year 1, sung Christmas songs, enjoyed a fun Christmas lunch and taken part in many Christmas craft activities, we even had a tuff tray full of snow! We have had a really fun festive week. Please check your child’s bookbag, they have written you a Christmas card and made you an ornament for your tree!

Somehow, amongst all the festivities we have managed to learn a new digraph, ‘ch’. The flashcard for this sound went home yesterday along with a learning at home sheet. After Christmas we will be continuing with level 3 and all our new sounds going forward will be digraphs (two letters, one sound) these are trickier for the children to identify when reading as up until this point they have been learning the individual letter sound. Moving forward they will be learning to recognise that when two or three letters are together (digraph or trigraph) they will make a new sound. All children should have a reading book for the holidays, please do continue to read with your child over the break and record it each time in their reading record book. Regular reading really does make such a difference to progress.

Lastley, Mrs Warrener, Mrs Blakely and I would like to say a huge thank you for all the wonderful kind words, Christmas cards and gifts, thank you so much for your generostiy, it is much appreciated. We love our job, it is a pleasure teaching your children everyday.

We wish you all a wonderful Christmas break and we look forward to seeing you all again on the 5th January.
