Today we welcomed Flo the tortoise into our classroom. We have been learning about the changing of the seasons and how some animals hibernate during the colder months. The children were fascinated to learn that when Flo goes into hibernation she sleeps in the fridge until spring! A huge thank you to Isabelle and her family for bringing Flo in to meet us, it was a real treat.

We also had the school photographer here today who took individual photographs of every child as well as photographs of sibling groups. They have in their bag a leaflet with all the details you need in order to purchase these.

This week we have learnt four new phonemes, ck, e, u and r. I gave everyone the flashcards for these to bring home today to add to their collection. Please use them to practise saying the sounds along with the memorable actions. You can also practise blending and segmenting the sounds by arranging the flashcards into words. Some children didn’t have their plastic reading wallets in their bags today, they have the flashcards but they may be loose in their bag, or if there is a zip pocket, tucked in there. It would be great if your child could bring their reading folder to school every day so that anything we need to send home, including reading books which I am beginning to send out, can be kept safe.

In maths we have been looking at one more, one less and composition of number. We had a super p.e. lesson in the hall on Wednesday, the children are quickly becoming more independent with changing their clothes, thank you for your help with this.

Next week is the last week of term and we have the parent consultation evenings booked in, I look forward to seeing you there.
