Wow! A super busy week. We’ve had odd socks day, Remembrance day and Children in Need. Everyone looked so cosy today in their pyjamas and onesies.

We have talked about ‘The power of Good’, read ‘kindness is my super power’ and drew patterns on odd socks. On Tuesday we learnt that it is important to think about things that happened in the past and remember. We watched the beautiful CBeebies ‘poppy day’ animation, iced biscuits to look like poppies using red icing and chocolate buttons and painted poppy fields using our fingers.

In phonics this week we learnt the digraphs ff, ll and ss, as well as the s sound that we can hear at the end of a word when there is more than one. These sounds will be in your child’s book bag today. We have been writing our name and writing CVC words, using Robot Rick talking to segment the words so that we can write the sounds we hear.

In maths we have been been finding, subitising and representing the numbers 4 and 5. Today we used multi link cubes to make 4 and 5 in many different ways. In art we looked at pictures by Kandinsky and noticed all the shapes in his work. We then produced our own versions of one of his pieces, making circle shapes with different mark making materials (supporting both our maths learning last week and early writing patterns). In R.E. we are continuing to consider the big question “Where do I belong?” and beginning to understand that different people belong to different religious groups. This week we looked at the Hindu festival of Raksha Bandham and made paper Rakhis bracelets.

In P.E. we explored how we needed to move each part of our body in order to jump efficiently. We played jumping games and worked in pairs, supporting each other to improve our technique and measuring how far we could jump when we jumped efficiently.

Please do remember to send your child in with a coat each day, we do go outside if the rain if it isn’t too heavy as the fresh air and exercise is so important. Please also remember to send in a bottle of water each day.
