What a festive week we have had and still one more to go!

Thank you to everyone for sending in clothes for our nativity performance. We had a run through today and are ready for next week. In phonics this week we have been consolidating our learning so far, reading and writing words using the sounds we know. Our classroom role play area became a Santa posting station, where children enjoyed writing Christmas lists and letters. We played lots of phonics games, one that involved balloons and another where all the children had a word stuck to their back. In maths we focused on counting accurately and did lots of Christmas counting, the classroom then bacame Santa’s workshop and we explored shape, space and measure as the children had to cut the right size of paper to wrap their box and of course, then write a label for their parcel!

We have enjoyed making and writing Christmas cards and beautiful clay ornaments that they will bring home next week. We have also been dressing up and acting out the Christmas Story. Remember “Jesus is the reason for the season”!

Next week is a busy one! As well as performing the nativity 3 times, (once to the rest of the school, plus performances for parents and carers on Tuesday and Wednesday) we will be having our Christmas party, our Christmas lunch and Christmas jumper day! Our Christmas party will be Monday afternoon, please send your child in with a change of clothes. Christmas lunch is on Wednesday and Christmas jumper day Friday.

It’s the school fair tomorrow as well, hope to see you there!

Have a wonderful weekend,

Jo Bentley
