I hope everyone had a fun and restful half term break.
This week we have been recapping all sounds learnt so far and blending them to read words. Please continue to use the flashcards sent home to practice blending. We have also focused on the tricky words ‘to’ and ‘the’, these are words the children have to learn by sight, they cannot de-code these words, we therefore call them ‘ tricky words’. Next week we will be learning the tricky words ‘no’, ‘go’ and ‘I’ as well as new sounds ‘h’ and ‘b’.
In maths we have been learning about shape, specifically circles and triangles. We have been looking for shapes in the environment and making pictures using circles and triangles. We began to talk about life in the past in connection with the bonfire story and had lots of fun experimenting with different techniques in Art to create great firework pictures. We will continue to think about and discuss life in the past this term, in connection with community events and celebrations that take place at this time of year, including Diwali, Remembrance and Christmas.
The children have been introduced to the nativity songs this week. We have lots of words and actions to learn in preparation for the Christmas nativity, which the children will take part in along with year one and two, during December. More information regarding this will follow soon.
Have a wonderful weekend, thank you for your support,
Jo Bentley
