This week we began to blend and write words that had two adjacent consonants at the end, or CVCC. For example, milk, nest, paint, roast. We also learnt two new tricky words, ‘said’ and ‘so’.

In maths we focused on adding more, using first, then, and now as a number story structure. You can practice this at home using real life concepts, for example, ‘First I had 4 sweets, then I added 5, how many do I have now’? We represented our number stories using ten frames, counting cubes and our fingers.

In p.e. we continued to work on our ball skills, specifically maintaining control whilst dribbling, or moving into a space, throwing and catching. In music we are listening to and exploring songs which explore different emotions, using the book by Laura Loft “Big Emotions – Mindful music for little people’.

Reminders: If your child has a school dinner, please remember to order for them. Also please ensure your child brings a water bottle to school, especially as the weather begins to get warmer and we are spending more time running on the field.

Thank you so much for all the beautiful baby photographs you have been sending in. If you haven’t sent one yet, please do, you can use tapestry, email, or pop a hard copy in your child’s book bag, I promise to look after it!

Have a wonderful weekend,

Jo Bentley
