Thank you for all your donations today for the Christmas fair, the children loved coming to school in their own clothes. We also had the p.t.a. film night earlier this week and those children who stayed for it had a great time.

In phonics we have continued to practice reading tricky words and blending sounds to read words. We have also learnt the new sounds ‘l’ and ‘f’. Your children now have tricky word flashcards (to, go, no, I, the) in their reading wallets. I am continuing to issue reading books, please do not worry if your child has not yet had a book sent home, it is good practice to wait until they are blending sounds confidently. We visited the school library on Thursday and those who wanted to, changed their book. Please do continue to share a wide range of books and stories just for fun with your children. In maths we have been finding, subitising and representing the numbers 4 and 5 in different ways in order to explore the composition of number.

We have been practising our nativity songs, learning all about the first Christmas and thinking about why Christians perform nativity plays at Christmas. Some children have already brought in their named carrier bag of clothes in preparation for our performance, thank you. We are going to be stars, every child will need a black top and black bottom, please do continue to send these in. We looked at the book “Little Glow” this week and talked about how people from different communities come together in celebration and worship and have begun to make paper plate diva lamps in art.

Thank you once again for your support, have a wonderful weekend,

Jo Bentley
