Thank you so much to everyone who attended the parent’s evenings this week. Please don’t worry if you were unable to attend, I will get in touch next week to arrange an alternative time. Thank you also for your donations today for Gambia day, the children all enjoyed being in their own clothes.

This week in phonics we have been consolidating our learning so far, practising blending to read and segmenting to write using the sounds we already know. Next week we will be learning the last 4 sounds in level 2: ff, ll, ss, and s (the plural s at the end of a word). In maths we have been exploring shape, specifically circles and triangles, using talk to explain the properties of shapes and being shape detectives, looking for and comparing shapes in the environment.

We had our second P.E. lesson this week and the children did so well getting changed and then dressed again, we could tell they had been practising over half term, thank you.

We began to talk about life in the past in connection with the bonfire story and had lots of fun activities linked to firework night, we had a firework picture word hunt, created firework pictures using chalk on black paper and learnt the fireworks night poem ‘Remember remember the 5th of November’. We will continue to think about and discuss life in the past this term, in connection with community events and celebrations that take place at this time of year, including, Remembrance and Christmas.

In singing assembly this week the children were introduced to the nativity songs! We have lots of words and actions to learn in preparation for the Christmas nativity, which the children will take part in along with year one and two, during December. More information regarding this will follow soon.
