Thank you to all those who attended the parents information evening last night. If you were unable to come but are keen to know what was covered, I have uploaded the presentation slides to the website, so please do take a look.
I hope your children have enjoyed their first full week of school. We have learnt our first four phonemes, s, a, t and p. The children have brought home today flashcards showing the letter and the mnemonic, which is designed to help them to remember the sound, the hand action and the letter formation. Each week, as we learn new letter sounds, I will send home flashcards so that you can practice at home, I’m sure they would love to show you. As your collection of flashcards grow you will be able to build words and practice blending the sounds together. Next week we will learn i, n m and d.
Also in their book bags today you will find a star for the children to complete at home with you. We have been learning that we are all different and that everyone is special and the children have been tasked with drawing something that they are particularly good at on the star and bringing it back to school to share.
In maths we have been matching objects, identifying sets and exploring sorting techniques. Next week we will be focusing on measure, exploring size, mass and capacity as well as beginning to look at pattern.
Thank you for your support, have a wonderful weekend,
Jo Bentley
