The children were so excited to arrive in school this morning and find that the Easter bunny had paid us a visit! We hunted the classroom for our Easter treats, they had been hidden in the baskets the children had made earlier in the week with their year 6 buddies. We wrote our Easter cards (please check your child’s book bag), and recapped the Easter story, using the Easter Garden we made earlier in the week.

Bike ability this week was so much fun, all the children made incredible progress and I was so proud of how well they listened, followed instructions and persevered. The instructors advice moving forward is to remove stabilisers from bikes ridden at home. This is because the children have worked so hard on finding their balance and gliding that a return to using stabilisers can reverse this progress.

In phonics we spent time recapping some of the sounds we have learnt most recently, particularly the last few digraphs and trigraphs, listening for them in words, segmenting and writing words with those more difficult sounds in. We also had a tricky word competition, which ran throughout the week, me against the class – the class won of course! They are not going to let those tricky words trick them!
