This week in phonics we have been revising some of our level 3 sounds. We have been reading and writing new words containing these sounds and segmenting the words we hear so that we can write them.

In maths we have been looking at number bonds to 10 and making different arrangements within 10. This is the order irrelevance counting principle, noticing that the overall number is still the same, no matter where they count from or what arrangements they make. These activities will help deepen children’s understanding that numbers can be made of many different arrangements and each arrangement tells a story about that number.

We have had fun making potions with blossom petals, painting daffodils, making Mothers Day cards and growing cress in the classroom. In R.E we learnt about the Easter Story, specifically The Resurrection of Jesus on Easter Sunday and how Easter eggs and spring flowers symbolise new life. This linked nicely to our visit on Monday to St Johns Pre School where we met the beautiful, newly hatched ducklings.

Next week we have bike ability Monday to Thursday. Please could you send your child in wearing jogging bottoms or leggings and normal St Johns uniform on the top half.

Can I also ask that if anyone has any of our spare clothing, especially boys underwear, it is returned to us, as we seem to have depleted our supply!
