Thank you to everyone for your donations to Comic Relief today, the children were excited to be wearing their own clothes and all looked great in red! We talked about Red Nose Day and what the word charity means. We have also spent some time this week discussing how we can show our school values of Wonder, Love, Excellence and Forgiveness everyday in the things that we do.

This week in phonics we have learned the trigraph ‘ure’ and the digraph ‘er’. (cure, pure, manure, pepper, finger, river) We read words containing these sounds and wrote some too. The children particularly liked ‘manure’! You may find that as your child progresses through the reading books linked to our phonics scheme that their reading book is changed less often. Please do not worry, it is important that they read the book a few times to build fluency and familiarity when reading words containing new graphemes.

In maths we have been representing number in lots of different ways and having fun with measuring, today we discovered that I am 96 cubes long!

In Art the children made beautiful blossom trees, using paint and tissue paper. We also looked at some artwork by Alma Thomas and drew inspiration from it to create our own beautiful designs using collage.

On Monday we are hoping to visit the pre-school again as some of the ducklings have now hatched!
