This week in phonics we have learnt the new sounds ‘or’ (horn, fork, torn) ‘ur’ (surf, hurt, turnip) and tricky word ‘they’ and we have been practising writing words and short sentences together. In maths we have been exploring length and height, building towers, ordering lengths of ribbon and measuring lines with cubes. In p.e. we have begun to work on our ball skills, working to move the ball with our fingertips with increasing control around our bodies and along the floor.

We have been using the calendar to talk about the changing month and season, and have made daffodils from cardboard to take home. Half the class visited the computer suite again and we used a simple art program to practise mouse skills. The other half of the class will visit the computer suite again next week. In R.E the children learnt about Palm Sunday with Mrs Blakeley, and acted out the events, it was lots of fun, Mrs Warrener was Jesus on the donkey! I have attached some photographs for you to enjoy.

Next week we have pancake day and World Book Day to look forward to!

Request: Please could I ask that children do not bring in toys from home, they can get lost or broken, resulting in unnecessary upset. All children need to bring to school is their book bag, with their reading wallet in and a water bottle (and a pack lunch if not having school lunch). Our cloakroom is becoming quite crowded and big bulky bags can make it difficult for children to organise their own things at the end of the day.
