We had the absolute pleasure of welcoming some beautiful fluffy yellow chicks into our classroom this week. We all really enjoyed stroking and holding the chicks, the children were very gentle and we thoroughly enjoyed meeting them. (Of course the visit also supported our learning on life cycles and growing and changing) A big thank you to Arthur’s parents for bringing them in to visit us, I have attached some photographs for you.

In phonics this week we have been revisiting our tricky words, and reading lots of level 4 words, blending adjacent consonants and writing words with adjacent consonants. In maths we have been rotating shapes, looking at them in a variety of orientations and positions and manipulating them to fill a given space. We have had lots of fun building more complex 2D shape pictures and completing Tangram puzzles.

In R.E. We listened to the Christian story of Creation and learnt that Christians believe God made the whole world. We looked at images of some fantastic sea creatures and marveled at how amazing all the different creatures in the world are. We then made our own jellyfish from card and tissue paper.

In P.E. we have been learning to work as a team, follow the rules of the game and take turns, in preparation for Sports Day which is coming up soon.

Today, we also had a go at following a hand clap rhythm pattern with a partner. These are great fun and brilliant for both both physical coordination and cognitive development, a great multi sensory brain workout! Why not have a go with your child at home, there are lots of fun rhymes and rhythms available on u-tube.
