We have come to the end of yet another term! This week has been been full of Easter activities and fun. This morning, when the children arrived in the classroom, they discovered the Easter bunny had visited and filled the baskets they had made earlier in the week with their buddies, with chocolate goodies. Much excitement!

Throughout this week we have been thinking about the Easter story. We read the hungry caterpillar and thought about how, just as the caterpiller emerges from his cocoon to begin a new life as a butterfly, Christians believe that Jesus rose again to begin a new life in heaven with God. We made an Easter Garden together and talked about how Easter is a celebration of all the the joy and happiness that new life brings. This afternoon we joined the rest of the school over at the church to celebrate Easter, the children were incredibly well behaved, we were very proud of them all.

In phonics we have been reading and writing words using some of the digraphs and trigraphs from level 3. In maths we have been exploring 3D shapes, recognising and naming them, spotting them in the environment, building with them and describing their properties. We used them to print in paint, exploring the different shapes on the faces of 3D objects.

We also had a fantastic gymnastics lesson this week, using all the apparatus, including the wall bars, holiding the balances we have learnt to construct a sequence. I have attached lots of photos for you to enjoy. The children have also made Easter cards for their families at home, please do check their book bags.

As we were leaving the classroom today one of the children discovered they had lost a pink/purple squidgy toy (cube shaped) given as a gift from their buddy. If anyone has accidentally taken this home with them, please do keep it safe and return to school next term so that it can be reunited with it’s rightful owner.
