This week in phonics we have been recapping some of our level 3 sounds that we learnt at the start of the year. We have been practising reading and writing words that contain level three digraphs. This has involved lots of Robot Rick segmenting to hear the sounds and build the words using correct letter formation. The children have worked really hard. In maths we have been spending lots of time on our number bonds to ten.

We have continued to talk about Spring and the changing weather and we read the story ‘Sing to the Moon’ set during the rainy season in Uganda. We looked on our globe and found Uganda and we looked at pictures of the landscapes and animals there and considered what might be the same or different from the country we live in. In Art we studied some work by Alma Thomas, we discussed what her pictures reminded us of and used them as inspiration to create our own pictures using collage.

We had a fantastic gymnastics lesson on the apparatus, holding new balance shapes, such as the arabesque and the back support. We have continued to learn about the Easter Story, focusing on the Christian message of new life, love and hope when Jesus rose again.

Reminder: Reception class have bikeability the first week back after Easter. If you would like your child to take part but have not yet completed the consent form please do so this evening as today was the cut off day. Please note, bikes and all necessary equipment needed are provided.
